I like sleep and I like my bed - a lot.
I sleep a hell of a lot, so much so my boyfriend calls me lazy, which is why I've decided to compile a list on how I started getting the most out of my sleep.
A soak in the bath - I'm a little routine in the fact that I have a bath every other night. Most nights before bed, I love nothing more than soaking in bubbles and listening to the easy decade playlists on Spotify. It leaves me feeling calm, clean, and cosy for bed.
Fresh bedding and clean pjs - There's no better feeling than getting into a bed with fresh sheets and new pyjamas right? Most nights I sleep in a vest top and shorts as I move around a lot and become tangled in the duvet. But on those really cold evenings, I go for jogging bottoms to keep my legs toasty under the covers. Plus it's always a win for the mornings when you it's too cold to get out of bed.
A sleepy dog - Many people believe that pets should be kept out of the bedroom. Maybe they should, but I don't want to. By taking him on regular walks and wearing up his energy during the day definitely means a more peaceful nights sleep. I love cuddles with him at 6am, but sometimes it's such a better nights sleep when he's sprawled out on the floor at the bottom of the bed.
You know what? I may sometimes struggle to get out of bed (who wants to wake up when it's dark and dreary outside?) but struggling aside, I always feel better after sticking to the above.
While I do feel more alert and more ready, maybe it's time I also start putting my phone aside at a more reasonable time. Although filters and mishap stories on Snapchat can't be ignored.
I also like mornings because it brings another new day. Another day for opportunities, new adventures, and making friends. But there's one thing I don't like - waking up when the dark mornings are still around.
